Message from the Chief

Our goal is your safety and well-being. To achieve this we use a comprehensive community-policing approach to our daily activities, routinely patrolling both campuses, on foot and by vehicle. When you see us on patrol, don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any concerns about public safety. We are your partners in keeping this community safe.

While the Police Department works hard to ensure the campus community’s safety, the primary responsibility for overall safety and security rests with each and every one in the community. No law enforcement agency, body of laws or set of rules can keep us all safe unless each of us exercises reasonable caution and awareness. If you see something suspicious, tell us immediately!

Police officers are on duty whenever the Des Plaines and the Skokie campuses are open. We also work in cooperation with the other local, county, state, and federal law enforcement organizations in the area, as well as the local fire departments.

Our office provides a broad range of services to the campus community, including crime prevention information, strategic safety planning, and training sessions on a variety of security, crime prevention, and safety topics.

It is our promise to serve everyone in our community with compassion and respect.

In partnership,
Chief Marvin Bornschlegl
