Welcome

Welcome to the Automotive Technology (Apprenticeship) program!

Chair: Kenneth Shinsako, 847.635.1906 or kshinsak@oakton.edu

Designed for people already working in the field, Oakton’s automotive technology (apprenticeship) curriculum fulfills the requirements of the U.S. Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training for related instruction in this highly skilled trade. For your convenience, courses meet in late afternoon and evening, and the program may be completed with four years of part-time study.

Oakton’s curriculum awards a certificate to those students who complete the related automotive apprenticeship instruction and on-the-job training. Students who complete 60 semester hours, which include general education requirements in addition to the automotive instruction courses and on-the-job training, earn an associate in applied science degree.

I urge you to explore Oakton’s automotive technology courses and take a tour of our lab at the Des Plaines campus. Please contact me if I can assist you with your career goals.
