Teaching Philosophy:

It is my belief that sociology provides the tools that will prepare them for challenges of the world we live in today. In the course of studying sociology, my students begin to look more critically at the world around them. I believe that learning occurs best when students are actively engaged in the material. Through a combination of methods, from small group discussion and group work to service learning and applied research, we investigate such core sociological concepts as culture, socialization, deviance, and inequality both within our own society and across the globe.
