Education Background:

  • B.A. University of Illinois at Chicago
  • M.A. Illinois School of Professional Psychology
  • Psy.D. Illinois School of Professional Psychology

Teaching Philosophy:

My teaching philosophy is to make the material I am covering as relevant to the student as possible. I provide interactive lectures, group activities, and hands-on demonstrations to help involve the student in the classroom. I try to learn each students name in order to create an open and mutually respectful atmosphere where ideas and dialogue can be exchanged. By creating this type of setting, I believe that the classroom milieu can be a place where students can safely challenge their beliefs about psychology. Further, I use the textbook in conjunction with "real world" experiences that the students bring to class, thus further helping me gain a better understanding of psychology, which in turn positively influences my effectiveness as an educator.
