My Style
of Teaching

While there is a certain amount of lecture accompanying PowerPoint presentations and discussion in my classes, my main emphasis is learning by example and learning by doing. I demonstrate the concept being taught and then provide an opportunity for the class to, along with me, put the concept into practice as well. I believe students should be active learners. The practical applications are varied and sometimes invite collaboration among classmates. You will start out with learning experiences where you are guided step by step. Once familiar with the topic at hand, you will be expected to use your critical thinking skills and, at times, your creative abilities to accomplish a given task without being given the step by step directives. My goal for every course that I teach is for my students to leave the course feeling confident about the skills and knowledge they have developed in the course so that they can then utilize them to meet their professional and personal needs.

In the online courses, I provide examples that are accessible through your computer. There is interaction between classmates via the discussion board and among the applications there may be an occasional activity where students will collaborate with each other. You can expect all of your assignments to be graded by me, and via e-mail your will receive a written evaluation of each. I am available through e-mail, phone, or my campus office to address any questions you may have.

Personal
Information

I have two young daughters and enjoy spending time with them. When there is time, it is fun to read, work on crafts and stitchery and watch movies or go to the theater . I am involved in ministry at my church. Currently this is focused on ministering to the sick and shut-ins of my parish.
