The Computer Information Systems program prepares students for positions in:
- entry-level application computer programmer
- systems analyst
- database administrator
- support specialist
It is also designed to increase the knowledge needed by today's computer information professionals and computer users to create a strong foundation for potential advancement in a computerized business environment.
Courses in business help students relate their work to the organization in which the computer installation is located. Courses in mathematics and science provide understanding of the theoretical background of computer work. Courses in Humanities, English and Social Science help students function more effectively both within and beyond the limits of their work in information systems.
Two Associate in Applied Science curricula are available: one focuses on computer programming, and the other focuses on supporting an information system. Also, there are
nine certificate programs available such as Computer Information Systems Certificate, Visual Basic Programmer Certificate, Computer User Certificate, PC Support Specialist Certificate,
Computer Technology Certificate, Internet and Computer Core
(IC3) Certificate, UNIX Certificate, Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
Certificate, and Management of Information Systems (MIS) Certificate.
Students in Computer Information Systems curricula must receive a minimum grade of C in all CIS, CAB, CNS, WWW courses.
