GENERAL BUSINESS CURRICULUMThe General Business Administration Curriculum offers coursework commonly taken by students during their first two years at baccalaureate-degree granting institutions. Students who plan to enter careers in accounting and business administration, as well as some students who plan to enter careers in law or public service, should enroll in this curriculum. Students will earn an Associate in Arts degree in Liberal Arts by following the recommended selection of courses. Students who complete this curriculum may transfer to senior colleges or universities as business majors. Students who plan to transfer earn baccalaureate degrees and then to begin careers in accounting or business - including marketing, finance, and general administration - should enroll in this curriculum. They consult an advisor before selecting Oakton courses because requirements at senior colleges or universities differ slightly. Students who intend to earn an Associate (two-year) degree and then to work in the field may wish instead to investigate Oakton career programs in their chosen majors. Students should be aware that each senior institution establishes specific course and grade point average requirements for admission into their business programs; the Advising and Counseling Center or catalogs of the senior institutions should be consulted for details. |
