The
business curriculum at Oakton Community College offers
a variety of courses that simulate the real business
environment.
Sue Cisco, chair of the Marketing and Management Program
stated, “It is our goal not only to teach
the theory but also the application, students are learning
from professionals in the field, classroom exercises
recreate what will be expected in a real business environment.”
MKT 161 Principles
of Professional Selling develops students’
perfect sales presentation skills through role-playing
and videotaping.
MKT
215 Intro to Advertising is a
class in which students are assigned real clients and
create successful advertising campaigns while learning
the function of an ad agency.
Other
classes, such as MKT
131 Principles of Marketing, guide
students through the development of a marketing plan.
“What
you learn in the classroom each evening can be put into
practice the very next day," cites Cisco.
"These classes also create great portfolio
examples when looking for a promotion or new job."
