Prerequisite

Recommendations CSC 155 or higher-numbered CSC course or instructor's consent.
 

Course Description

This is a first course in the C language under the UNIX operating system. Students develop structured programs within the syntax of ANSI C and use the various utilities available in UNIX to debug, execute and profile their programs. Programming examples are taken from the areas of business and computer science.
 

Course Objectives

A. Create, modify and manipulate files using UNIX commands.
B . Write, compile and execute programs in the C language.
C. Understand the available data structures in the C language and use them to write structured solutions to technical programs.
D . Use the utilities available under UNIX to debug and profile C programs.
E . Continue to develop methods of writing clear, portable and efficient programs.
