Course Description |
| This
course offers a practical introduction to computers, a survey
of their applications in society and the examination of their
impact on individuals and social institutions. Direct laboratory
experience using microcomputers includes an introduction to
programming in BASIC, word processing, spreadsheets, electronic
filing applications and graphics. It also includes a survey
of business, educational and personal uses. The course is
a general computer literacy course. |

Course Objectives |
1. Identify and use the components of a computer.
2. Use prepackaged programs such as a word processor, business
packages, educational packages, and personal and recreational
packages.
3. Know the fundamental rules of programming and be able to
write simple programs and modify existing programs.
4. Recognize the ethical and social implications inherent
in the increasing growth of computer use.
5. Make objective judgments concerning computer use based
upon factual and technical information. |
