This course will explore how the work of Descartes, Hume, Kant, Hegel and Marx address such issues as the meaning of life, the relation of the mind and body, and the possibility of human liberation, as well as engage such 20th-century thinkers as Frantz Fanon, a major theorist of racism and the struggle for recognition.
