Contemporary Visions of Urban America in Architecture, Literature, and Film.

We will watch movies, read essays on urban design,  and read poetry and fiction to explore facets of the contemporary city in the United States, such as conceptions of the modern city, the "noir" city, and new exurban spaces. We will pay particular attention to Chicago, and discover some of downtown Chicago's art in outdoor public spaces, led by the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
