Mathematics Placement Page

Initial placement in the mathematics sequence of courses is determined by the results of the Oakton Community College Mathematics Assessment Test (COMPASS). Other placement methods include transcripts of successfully completed (C or better) college level mathematics courses (transcripts or AP exam scores required). Placement of recent graduates (within two years) from Glenbrook, Maine, Northridge Prep, Evanston, or Niles Township High Schools require high school transcripts and ACT scores reviewed by the Mathematics Department Placement Coordinator.

In order to meet the prerequisite of an OCC course in Mathematics, students must have previously taken an OCC MAT course (please check the Mathematics Course Dependency Graph, showing the sequence and relationship of all math classes), or taken the Mathematics Assessment Test or have their transcripts examined by the Mathematics Department Placement Coordinator
