Prepare to Register

New Students Age 17 - 20

  • Placement tests
    Complete writing, reading, and math placement tests.
    Placement testing must be complete prior to attending New Student Orientation. Testing is available on both campuses or can be waived with specific ACT scores. See www.oakton.edu/assess for placement information and test schedules.
  • Complete New Student Orientation online.
    Once placement testing is complete, you will be assigned an orientation date. At New Student Orientation you will meet with an advisor, discuss placement tests results, learn about support services, and register for classes.

To meet a course prerequisite with previous college or high school course work, submit the completed Prerequisite Override Request Form with an official or unofficial transcript. Fax the form to 847.635.1706 or mail it to the Enrollment Center. Requests will be evaluated within two business days from the date received. If approved, an online waiver will be issued, allowing you to register online or in person

New Students Age 21 and Over

  • Course prerequisites

    Plan your class schedule.
