Exercise for the Mind
Leigh Rosenblum has discovered the secret to aging well. And Oakton plays a key role in his strategy.

Before I retired five years ago, I was totally involved in medicine. I worked for a long time at Lutheran General Hospital, where I started the nuclear medicine program and served as head of medicine and VP of medical affairs. Then I ran my own practice for several years.

I've always been fascinated by economics and politics, but I never had time to pursue anything but medicine. So as soon as I retired, I started attending courses and lectures through Oakton's Emeritus Program. I've taken courses in astronomy, the politics of the Middle East, and many more. No matter what course I take, I learn a lot about life and what it means.

The faculty in the Emeritus Program are remarkable. These are professors who also teach at places like the University of Chicago and Northwestern University. They're big names, and they don't have to teach at Oakton; they're here because they enjoy teaching students who bring experience to the classroom.

Oakton's Emeritus Program attracts a special group of students. We have kids and grandkids, we have experience in the world, and we know all about problems. It's a program for people who are genuinely interested in learning-whether it's computers, music, arts, humanities, or astronomy.

In my view, the secret to aging well is to keep busy and exercise your mind and body. At Oakton, I'm definitely exercising my mind.
