Since exploding onto stage and screen more than 50 years ago, Marlon Brando has been an object of fascination to actors, who continue to study his work, and to audiences.  But what made Brando...Brando? Explore this actor’s career through eight movies that showcase his talent: The Men (1950), A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), Julius Caesar (1953), On the Waterfront (1954), Sayonara (1957), The Fugitive Kind (1960), Last Tango in Paris (1972), and The Freshman (1990). Francine Sanders, who holds an M.A. in film studies from Northwestern University, examines how each film contributed to Brando’s status as a cultural icon and takes a closer look at his collaborations with directors such as Elia Kazan.
