P36-Hour Basic Orientation Course for Activity Directors
CRN 50646 (Course Code: HTH A04-030)

This course fulfills all Illinois Department of Public Health requirements by including information regarding: resident rights; activity care planning for quality of life, human wellness and self-esteem, etiology and symptomatology of persons who are aged, developmentally disabled or mentally ill; therapeutic approaches; philosophy and design of activity programs; activity program resources; program evaluation; practitioner behavior and ethics; resident assessment and supportive documentation; standards and regulations concerning activity programs; management and administration. Enrollment limited to 40 students. If proof of enrollment in this class is needed, call 847.635.1794.

  • Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays
    June 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28, 2012
  • Registration: 8:30 a.m.
  • Program: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Advanced Registration Fee: $450, plus $8 non-refundable processing fee.
  • Walk-in Registration Fee: $475, plus $8 non-refundable processing fee.
  •  Includes instruction, course notebook, morning refreshments and certificate of completion. Lunch is on your own. Bring a bag lunch to eat in the classroom or purchase your lunch in the campus cafeteria.

Presenters:

Susan Quattrochi-Tubin, Ph.D., CTRS, ACC, CAC, LNHA is a consultant to numerous long term care facilities in Illinois and the owner and president of Quality Care Consulting Service, Inc. Susan is a well-informed, dynamic speaker for many local, state and national professional meetings and conferences.

Penny J. Devin, MS, RPRP, IATA has taught therapeutic recreation in the Chicagoland area for over twenty-five years. She has a master's degree in Recreation Administration and post graduate work in Adult and Continuing Education, Sociology and Public Administration.


This course fulfills all Illinois Department of Public Health requirements for both Activity Director and for Activity Professional working on a Dementia Unit to fulfill requirements of Section 300.1410(c). Participants must attend all six (6) sessions to meet these requirements.
