George Tootelian
   

 

George T. has been teaching at Oakton for five years.

He's taught ENG 211 (Statics), ENG212(Dynamics), Eng 217(Mechanics of materials), PHY101 and PHY131.
He's been the Advisor to the Engineering and Physics Club since its inception.

George is a Registered Professional Engineer in both Pennsylvania and Illinois. He holds a number of Patents in electro-mechanical mechanisms in the U.S. and Canada. He also taught at Harper College for 18 years and Temple University (Phila.)for 20 years.

He earned his undergraduate degree and graduate degree from Drexel University, both at night while holding a full time job during the day.He graduated with honors.
He's worked in industry all his life, for ITE Imperial Corp., Gould Inc. and as advisor to the South Korean Government. He twice visited Korea as Consultant to many Korean manufacturing companies.

One position with ITE involved the Project Management of a Tropospheric Scatter Antenna System (Communications network) for NATO. With offices in Rheinhausen, Germany and later Paris, France, George was responsible for the installation and acceptance of 160 antennas and waveguides in eight NATO countries.

At Gould he was responsible for the promotion of the sponsorship of Roger Penske's race team. In 1979 Gould's sponsorship paid off when the team won the Indianapolis 500 race with Rick Mears at the wheel of "The Gould Charge."

George is happily married and has four children and four grandchildren.
