Tips
for the sample test
|
- Some students do better by reading the entire paragraph to
get a general sense of it. Then they decide what specific
piece of information is missing.
|
- Some students look for clues to the missing word by carefully
reading the sentences that come before and after the key sentence.
Then they select a word from the five choices.
|
- Some students do not look at the word choices until after
they have tried to guess a word from their own vocabulary which
makes sense. Then they compare that word to the choices offered
on the test

Tips for
the regular test
|
- The test moves from easy paragraphs to more difficult paragraphs.
So spend more time on the first 55 items because you are more
likely to select the correct response from these paragraphs.
If you change your answer, erase carefully!
|
- Making an educated guess is a good tip. Guessing without having
any idea what the word choice might be is not valuable. Oakton
