| The most important and wonderful news is that the federal TRiO grant at Oakton has been renewed for another four years! This means that it can continue to grow, which also means changes—changes that are always designed to serve you better, to help ensure your success as a college student.
During the Fall semester, we will hire a new advisor. Evanthia Rosati has made a change and is now the Reading/Study Skills Specialist of the Learning Center. Because of the demands of her new job, Evanthia recommends that you set up an appointment versus dropping in to say “hi.” She'd love to see you and to hear how you are doing, but she asks that you meet with Kristine, Alison, and/or the to-be-hired advisor for TRiO-related matters.
We will also be adding a part-time Advisor/Math Specialist as part of the permanent TRiO staff. This will be an invaluable help for all of our students who struggle so valiantly with their math classes as well as those who want to major in math-related fields.
Kristine Panopio will now spend two days at the Des Plaines campus and three days at the Ray Hartstein Campus. If you wish to see her, be sure to call and make |
an appointment and/or check the schedule.
The most unfortunate change is the loss of both of our long-time tutors, Margaret and Fatima. The new grant did not allow us the funds to continue their wonderful services.
Now you know what is happening with us. So…what is happening with you?? Have you moved, changed phone numbers, decided to transfer or take a semester off? We worry about students who don't contact us. We want to know about the things that make you happy and the frustrations you may be experiencing; maybe we can help.
Did you get a “C” in a class that you thought you were failing? Tell us about it!
Are you proud of a paper you wrote? Tell us about it!
Are you frustrated with a teacher? Tell us about it!
Are you upset with something about the TRiO program? Tell us about it!
We value your feedback and sharing with us. A quick phone call or e-mail is sufficient, but if you can, stop in and visit. We look forward to seeing you or hearing from you! Enjoy your fall semester!! |
