Things You Want to Know

TRiO Student Scholarships

For academic year 2005-06, we received $ 20,000 to distribute to students who are receiving Pell grants and in good academic standing. If you fit the financial aid eligibility requirements, are in good academic standing, and are an active participant in the SSS TRiO program, you may receive a scholarship from us at the end of fall and/or spring semesters. Recipients should use this scholarship to pay academic expenses (i.e. books for the following semester, tuition). See your SSS TRiO Advisor for details!

Computer and Calculator Loan Program

We have laptops and TI-83 calculators that can be loaned out to TRiO students. The laptops have been equipped with the Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing software, which provides a wonderful chance to practice your typing skills. Please see your SSS TRiO Advisor for more information.

Book & Calculator Funds Loan Program

With the cooperation of the Oakton Educational Foundation, we have funds which can be loaned to TRiO students for the purpose of purchasing books and/or calculators at Oakton's bookstores. If you are eligible, TRiO will lend you the funds to pay for these items. These funds must be repaid before you can register for the Spring 2006 semester. Please speak with your Advisor for details.

Advising

Don't forget that, as a participant in the TRiO program, you are expected to see your Advisor at least twice per semester . This is especially true for students on warning, probation or who have a financial restriction. If you did not meet with your advisor before registering, be sure to make an appointment today! Des Plaines (847) 635-1658 or Skokie (847) 635-1434.
