| Jerry Peart works on a monumental
scale, frequently outdoors, and often in an urban setting. His large welded
and painted sculptures are site-specific. Frequently figurative in subject,
the sculptures sug-gest, through the juxtaposition of materi-als and form,
the industrial and the organic.
Peart frequently combines col-ors to establish a mood and animate the subject. He places his sculptures directly on the ground to eliminate any barrier between the observer and the artwork. People climb, play, or simply repose upon many of his public pieces. This exhibition presents
19 models for outdoor sculpture and 3 unique works representing Peart’s
artistic evolvement from 1969 to 2003. In 1982 Perat was commissioned by
Oakton Community College to create Hoop-La-La, on display at the courtyard
of the Des Plaines campus.
