The
internationally acclaimed Oakton Six Piano Ensemble celebrates
its 25th anniversary with main stage performances at 8 p.m., Saturday,
April 16, and 3 p.m., Sunday, April 17, at Oakton Community College,
1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
The
Six Piano Ensemble is a unique musical collaboration that will delight
audiences with classical, popular, and ragtime selections, including
Bizet's "Carmen Suite," Bach's "Fugue No. 2 in C Minor," as well as
favorite compositions by George Gershwin and Scott Joplin.
Conducted by Glenna Sprague, professor and coordinator of music at
Oakton, featured members of the Six Piano Ensemble include Mary Clare
Barker, Claire Birmingham, Nina Kogan, Beatriz Levi, Adrian Metzger,
Annette Partak, and Ludmyla Turkalo.
The
Oakton Six Piano Ensemble has been invited to perform at several prestigious
venues in 2005, including the University of Hawaii and National Conference
on Keyboard Pedagogy. The group previously has appeared at the International
Conference of the College Music Society in Vienna, Austria; Chicago
Civic Opera House; and the Music Teachers National Association National
Conference in Spokane, Washington.
