Design (BOT E41-01) explores design as the basis of drawing, graphic
illustration, floral and garden design, and other plant-related art
forms. Students must register by Jan. 10. Ten-session course meets
6:30 - 9 p.m., Wednesdays, and 1 - 4 p.m., Saturdays, starting Jan.
17, at the Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe. Course fee
is $347.
Traditional
Quilting Using Contemporary Techniques (ART D15-01) shows how to select
and prepare quilt-making supplies. A sewing machine and basic sewing
skills are required. Six-week course meets Thursdays, 5:30 - 8 p.m.,
starting Jan. 18, at the North Shore Senior Center's A.C. Nielsen
Jr. Campus, 161 Northfield Road, Northfield. Course fee is $150.
Introduction
to Qigong Theory and Personal Practice (PED E15-01) introduces ancient
Chinese practices to energize your life. Qigong is best practiced
in loose, comfortable clothes and flat shoes. Students are asked to
bring a yoga mat, notebook, and pen to class. Three-week course meets
Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., starting Jan. 18, at the North Shore Senior
Center's A.C. Nielsen Jr. Campus. Course fee is $90.
Travel
the World for Free (REC E05-01) showcases ingenious and economical
travel techniques. These methods could even turn into a new career,
or provide participants with more vacation and leisure time. One-week
session meets 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, at Oakton's Ray
Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $29.
