Register for Special Interest Classes at Oakton

Enjoy a variety of special interest courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College.

Increase Your Brainpower with Crossword Puzzles (REC E88-01) demonstrates the techniques pros use to solve crossword puzzles. Eight-week course meets 7 - 8:30 p.m., Tuesdays, starting Sept. 28, at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., Skokie. Course fee is $69.

Harmonica in a Flash (MUS C14-01) teaches students how to play the harmonica. Bring your 10-hole harmonica in the key of C, or buy one at class for $8. Two-week course meets 2 - 5 p.m., Mondays, starting Oct. 11, at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $70.

Assyrian I (LSY B01-01) teaches basic Assyrian vocabulary and writing skills. Eight-week course meets 7:15 - 9:45 p.m., Tuesdays, starting Oct. 5, at Niles West. Course fee is $154.

Other special interest courses include Make a Holiday Candy House (HEC B27-01), After Atkins, What's Next? (HEA-E83-01), Flash Fiction (COM S22-01), From Start-up to Success: Is Self-employment in Your Future? (BUB E24-01), Work for Yourself as an Independent Sales Rep (BUB E23-01), and You're on the Air (COM S24-01).

Students who have registered for continuing education classes within the last five years, or for a credit course in the last three years, may register by using the Touch-Tone system at 847-635-1616 or by fax at 847-635-1448. Both methods require payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
