Take a walk on the creative side with a variety of craft classes offered through the Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL) at Oakton Community College. Register now for courses offered at many convenient District 535 locations.Creative Scrapbooking (ART C59, Touch-Tone 03132) is one of two new ALL classes being offered for the first time this fall. Students will explore a variety of methods for the creative display of photos and other memories. This four-week course meets Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m., beginning Sept. 30, at Glenbrook South High School, 4000 Lake Street, Glenview. The course fee is $60.
In Mosaics (ART C61, Touch-Tone 03134), students learn the basic techniques, tools, and materials for creating beautiful designs from ceramic tile, glass, and other materials. This new eight-week class meets Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m., beginning October 1, at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines. The course fee is $125, plus an additional $70 materials fee payable at the first class session.
Registration also is being taken for other craft classes such as Japanese Christmas Origami (ART C39), Stained Glass Artistry (ART E12), Knitting (HEC S20) Paper Embossing (ART B76), Basic Stenciling (ART B63) and Calligraphy I (TEC B32).
Students who have registered for Oakton classes within the last five years and have a Social Security number on file may register using the Touch-Tone system by dialing 847-635-1616 or by fax at 847-635-1448. Both methods require payment with a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). Students also may register in person at several locations.
