Enroll in recreation or communication courses offered
this fall by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community
College.
Ballroom Dancing (Beginner) (PED S61-01) teaches
the basic steps for several popular ballroom dances. A dance partner
is required. Nine-week course meets 7:30 – 8:45 p.m., Tuesday,
starting Sept. 23, at Maine East High School, 2601 Dempster St., Park
Ridge. Course fee is $99.
Backyard Birding (REC S34-01) shows how to get the
most out of bird watching. Learn how to make your yard more hospitable
to birds. Session meets 7 – 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, at
Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston. Course fee
is $19.
Sign Language I (COM B08-01) demonstrates how to
communicate on a basic level with those who use sign language. Deaf
culture and attitudes also will be covered. Nine-week course meets
7 – 9:15 p.m., Wednesday, starting Sept. 24, at Niles North
High School, 9800 Lawler Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $154.
Creative Writing and Self-Discovery (COM E43-01)
allows students to translate their unique vision into poems, short
stories, or articles that inspire others. Eight-week course meets
7:30 – 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, starting Sept. 24, at Niles North
High School. Course fee is $130.
Short Story Writing Workshop
(COM E69-01) helps develop fiction writing skills and promotes appreciation
of the short story. Six-week course meets 7 – 9:30 p.m., Thursday,
starting Sept. 25, at Evanston Township High School. Course fee is
$115.

Dancing (Intermediate) (PED S62-01), and Public Speaking with Confidence
