Express Yourself at Oakton

The Oakton Community College Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL) program offers more than 20 writing and language courses this spring to help students "express themselves." Introductory and intermediate classes are available in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and American Sign Language.

The ALL program also offers a variety of writing courses, including three taught by local author Richard Chwedyk: Science Fiction and Fantasy Writing (COM E99), Short Story Writing Workshop (COM E69), and Poetry Writing (COM E88). Chwedyk's poems and short stories have appeared in such publications as Amazing Stories, Science Fiction Chronicle, and The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.

Other communication courses beginning soon include Public Speaking With Confidence (COM B02) and Short Story and Novel Writing (COM S12), a new, hands-on course for honing writing skills and developing memorable characters and story lines.

Students who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years or a credit course in the last three years may register by using the Touch-Tone system at 847-635-1616 or by fax at 847-635-1448. Both methods require payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).

For a complete schedule of ALL classes and information about registration and fees, call 847-982-9888, press 3, or visit www.oakton.edu/cont_ed.
