Oakton Offers Gardening Series

Increase your gardening skills by enrolling in a workshop offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College. The two-week class meets 7 - 9 p.m., Wednesday, starting April 30, at Emily Oaks Nature Center, 4650 Brummel St., Skokie.

The series begins April 30 with Gardening for Butterflies (ORN E99-02). This course offers tips on how to attract butterflies to your backyard by growing the plants they prefer. In addition, the session covers the life cycle of butterflies. On May 7, gain hands-on experience in Gardening with Wildflowers (ORN E99-03). Participants will receive free native seeds and seedlings to plant in their gardens.

The cost for the series is $39, or $22 for an individual workshop. Eligible residents also may register through the Skokie Park District.
