Enroll in continuing education courses at Niles North High School, 9800 Lawler Ave., Skokie, offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College.
Freelance Writing I (COM E72-01) offers valuable suggestions on how to get your work published in magazines, newspapers, and on the Internet. Strengthen your writing skills through peer editing and instructor evaluation. Five-week course meets 7 – 9 p.m., Wednesday, starting Oct. 8. Course fee is $99.
Retirement Planning Today (FIN E02-02) teaches how to integrate finances with goals and values to create an early retirement plan. Three-week course meets 7 – 9 p.m., Wednesday, starting Oct. 8. Course fee is $40.
Journaling for Greater Optimism and Resiliency (PSY C44-01) introduces students to methods aimed at constructing healthier relationships and a more positive outlook. Eight-week course meets 7 – 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, starting Oct. 8. Course fee is $150.
Trace Your Family’s Roots (Genealogy on the Internet) (HIS E70-01) demonstrates how to make use of the various records and resources available to research your ancestors. Course is taught by an experienced genealogist who has traced her family history back hundreds of years. Four-week class meets 7 – 9 p.m., Monday, starting Oct. 13. Course fee is $69.
Franchising Opportunities (BUB E28-01) provides the information necessary to start a franchise business. Course fee includes all supplementary materials. Session meets 7 – 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13. Course fee is $19.
