Register for Online Computer Courses at Oakton

Increase computer skills without leaving the comfort of home in online courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College.

All online courses require e-mail and Internet access using Netscape, Internet Explorer, or Firefox Web browsers. Featured classes run from Wednesday, Nov. 12 through Tuesday, Dec. 9 and have a course fee of $89.

Introduction to Windows: Vista (DPR A23-309) provides an overview of Windows Vista’s features for beginning and casual computer users. Windows Vista software is required.

Making Movies with Windows XP (DPR E05-304) demonstrates how to turn your home video into entertaining digital movies. Learn how to add special effects, titles, credits, background music, and sound effects like a pro.

Wireless Networking (INT A22-304) examines one of the fastest growing segments of the computer industry. Learn from an industry expert how wireless devices work and how you can connect to wireless networks.

Introduction to SQL
(CPT A21-304) teaches the key concepts concerning Structured Query Language. Learn the basic structure of relational databases, how to read and write SQL statements, and advanced data manipulation techniques. Course requires a desktop Database Management System that supports SQL.

Introduction to PC Security
(DPR A49-304) demonstrates how to protect valuable personal and business data from the outside world. Learn how to assess the vulnerability of your system and how to minimize risk.
