Register for November Online Courses at Oakton


Enhance professional skills without leaving the comfort of home via new online courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL) at Oakton Community College. Registration is open for classes that start in November.

Online Investing (FIN E07-302, Touch-Tone 01952) covers topics such as opening an online brokerage account, financial search engines, Wall Street regulators, company financial reports, and performing financial analysis. Requirements include e-mail and Internet access, and Netscape or Internet Explorer. The class begins Nov. 5 and the course fee is $79.

Grammar Refresher (COM S13-302, Touch-Tone 03049) provides instruction on how to avoid common grammatical errors such as run-on sentences and shifts in person and tense. Requirements include e-mail and Internet access, and Netscape or Internet Explorer. The class starts Nov. 5 and the course fee is $79.

Creating Web Pages (DPR A78-302, Touch-Tone 02226) introduces the basics of Web design. Students will learn how to build Web pages using color, backgrounds, graphics, tables, and animation. Requirements for the course include e-mail and Internet access, and Netscape or Internet Explorer. The class starts Nov. 5 and the course fee is $69.

Adobe PhotoShop (DPR A04-302, Touch-Tone 02515) focuses on design techniques such as image composites, seamless patterns, blends, and filters. Requirements are a full version of PhotoShop 6, a moderate level of computer experience, e-mail and Internet access, and Netscape or Internet Explorer. The class begins Nov. 5 and the course fee is $69.

Other online courses offered include Windows XP: The New Windows Experience (DPR A23-302), Windows File and Disk Management (DPR A96-302), Intro to PC Troubleshooting (DPR A28-302), Technical Writing (COM S11-302), and Digital Photography (CO4-302).

Students who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years, or a credit course in the last three years, may register by using the Touch-Tone system at 847-635-1616 or by fax at 847-635-1448.
