Registration Open for November ALL Courses


Students still have the opportunity to take classes this semester with courses offered by Oakton's Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL). Registration is now open for classes starting in November.

Cooking Around the World (HEC C26-01, Touch-Tone 02159) teaches students how to create dishes from various cultures, including Portugal, China, Turkey, and India. This four-week class meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, beginning Nov. 18. The course fee is $75.

Culture Heroes of the 1960s (POL B09-61, Touch-Tone 04783) considers and discusses the political and social unrest of this time period, as well as the lives of Timothy Leary, Carlos Castaneda, and Ronald Laing, the Scottish psychiatrist who challenged existing approaches to treating schizophrenia with his book The Divided Self. This four-week class meets from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Wednesdays, beginning Nov. 20. The course fee is $50.

Country House Gardens in England and Ireland (ART C48-61, Touch-Tone 04808) takes a look at the beautiful gardens of these countries, including Ham House and Malmesbury Abbey in England and Muckross Mansion and Glin Castle in Ireland. The class meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6. The course fee is $14.

Other cooking courses beginning in November include Tantalizing Appetizers (HEC C29), Chocolate Creations (HEC C30), Advanced Pastry Baking (HEC C25), and Afternoon Tea & Etiquette (HEC C23).

Students who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years, or a credit course in the last three years, may register by using the Touch-Tone system at 847-635-1616 or by fax at 847-635-1448. Both methods require payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
