Learn about a variety of religions in Oakton Community
College’s “Out of the Loop” summer lecture series.
All sessions meet at Evanston Township High School, 1600 E. Dodge
Ave., Evanston.
Religion: The Series (PHL E82-31) features presenters
Ronald Miller, co-executive director of Common Ground; Douglas Gillette,
co-founder of the Institute for World Spirituality; and the Rev. John
Pawlikowski, professor of social ethics at the Catholic Theological
Union. Three-session class meets 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday and
Thursday, starting July 8. The series fee is $30. Individual lectures
are $15 each.
The series starts July 8 with What Can Buddhism Teach Us?
On July 15, explore the blending of Eastern and Western thought during
the lecture, Multiculturalism and Mystery in Hellenistic Egypt.
The series concludes July 17 with The New Interreligious Face
of America: What It Means to National Identity.
