sewing and beading techniques by enrolling in classes offered through
the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College.
Basic Sewing and Tailoring (HEC S91-02) demonstrates how to
make clothes like professionals. Students of all skill levels are
welcome. A $35 materials fee is due at the first class. Six-week course
meets 6:30 - 8 p.m., Thursdays, starting April 7, at Maine East High
School, 2601 Dempster St., Park Ridge. Course fee is $150.
Fashion
Design: Pattern Making (HEC S92-02) teaches the formulas to create
patterns for ready-to-wear and custom garments. No sewing experience
is required, and a $35 materials fee is due at the first class. Six-week
course meets 8:15 - 9:45 p.m., Thursdays, starting April 7, at Maine
East High School. Course fee is $150.
Beading
for Beginners (HEC S98-02) shows how to create ornamental jewelry
with a personalized touch. A $12 materials fee is due at the first
class. One-week session meets 7 - 9:30 p.m., Monday, April 4, at Maine
West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines. Course fee is $19.
Big,
Beautiful Beads (HEC B22-01) provides instruction on designing,
attaching clasps, and stringing basics. No beading experience is required.
A $12 materials fee is due at the first class. One-week course meets
7 - 9:30 p.m., Monday, April 18, at Maine West High. Course fee is
$19.
Fun
with Wire and Beads (HEC B21-02) reveals how to make beautiful
necklaces and bracelets by weaving jewelry wire and beads. A $12 materials
fee is due at the first class. One week course meets 7 - 9:30 p.m.,
Monday, May 2, at Maine West High. Course fee is $19.
