including fitness, arts and crafts, theater, and computers, by enrolling
in classes offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton
Community College.
Emotional
Freedom Technique (HEA C03-31) demonstrates a self-help technique
that has a profound effect on attitude, perceptions, relationships,
and health. Two-week course meets Thursdays, 7 - 8:30 p.m., starting
June 21, at the North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Road, Northfield.
Course fee is $48.
Knitting
for Beginners (HEC S20-31) provides the techniques to create
beautiful scarves, hats, vests, and afghans. Four-week course meets
Thursdays, 7 - 9 p.m., starting June 21, at the Prairie View Community
Center, 6834 Dempster St., Morton Grove. A materials fee of $5 is
due at the first class session. Course fee is $66.
Shout
Hallelujah and Let's Get Happy: A New Look at Musical Theater Greats
(MUS C37-31) examines the lives and music of theater legends,
including Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and
Barbara Streisand. Six-week course meets Thursdays, 7 - 8 p.m., starting
June 21, at the North Shore Senior Center. Course fee is $57.
Yoga
(PED S10-23) demonstrates Hatha yoga, a gentle, yet powerful exercise
system that reduces stress and promotes a healthy, fit, and flexible
body. Students are asked to bring a pillow and towel to class. Six-week
course meets Saturdays, 8:45 - 9:45 a.m., starting June 23, at the
Prairie View Community Center. Course fee is $76.
Windows
Applications (Windows XP) (DPR A23-34) is a hands-on computer
course covering topics including: managing files, customizing your
desktop, and creating folders and shortcuts. Five-week course meets
Wednesdays, 2 - 5 p.m., starting June 27, at Oakton's Des Plaines
campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Course fee is $165.
