Home improvement, cooking, and computer software
are among the fall courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning
at Oakton Community College. Courses meet evenings at various locations.
A Fast and Easy Twist on Walls (ART D21-01) provides
decorating tips and secrets from a painter experienced in faux finishes.
Come to class in your “painting clothes,” ready for hands-on
learning. A materials fee of $27 is due at the first class. Course
meets 6 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, at Oakton’s Des
Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Course fee is $30.
Pastry II (HEC C24-02) offers lessons in creating
cakes and exotic desserts from a graduate of the French Pastry School.
Four-week course meets 7 – 9 p.m., Thursday, starting Nov. 20,
at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston. Course
fee is $90.
Intermediate MS Excel (DPR A84-05) explores advanced
operations of the popular spreadsheet software. Four-week course meets
1 – 4 p.m., Sunday, starting Nov. 23, at Oakton’s Des
Plaines campus. Course fee is $130.
Construction Trouble Bubbles (TEC E71-01) is for
anyone considering new home construction or a major renovation of
their existing residence. Course meets 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday,
Nov. 29, at Oakton’s Des Plaines campus. Course fee is $120.
