Registration is open for a new series of low-cost professional seminars offered by the Business Institute at Oakton Community College. Scheduled throughout June and July at the Des Plaines campus, these workshops are designed to provide employees with the latest training in computer technology, customer service, time management, productivity, and communications.

Seminars in June include Personal Productivity Training: Palm Pilot, by Eagle International (June 4); Business Communications (June 10); ISO 9000 Management Update (June 11); Access 2000 for Business (June 26); and Business Marketing for Entrepreneurs (June 27). Each workshop lasts for one-half day except Access 2000 for Business, which is a full-day session.

Seminars in July include Coaching: Bringing Out the Best in Others, by AchieveGlobal (July 15); Introduction to Management for New Managers (July 16); Customer Service/FiSH! (July 23); Human Resources Executives Roundtable (July 29); and Microsoft Excel 2000 for Business (July 30). Each workshop lasts for one-half day except Introduction to Management for New Managers and Microsoft Excel 2000 for Business, which are full-day sessions.

The cost of each workshop is between $105 and $175 per employee. Participants must either reside in or be employed by a business located in District 535 (Des Plaines, Evanston, Glencoe, Glenview, Golf, Kenilworth, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Niles, Northbrook, Northfield, Park Ridge, Rosemont, Skokie, Wilmette, and Winnetka).
