Oakton Community College's Basic Nurse Assistant Training (BNAT) program is designed to prepare individuals to meet Illinois Department of Public Health requirements for certification as nurse assistants (CNA). Once certified, the nurse assistant is qualified to work in nursing homes, hospitals, and home health agencies.
The 11-week course meets this fall from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, Aug. 27 through Nov. 7, at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Class size is limited, and students will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. To begin the application process, students must bring their Social Security cards and proof of active health insurance coverage (such as an insurance card) to one of the information sessions scheduled at 6 p.m. on July 18, July 29, and Aug. 1 at the Ray Hartstein Campus.
