Verdi's
Greatest (Part I) (MUS E56-71) studies many of Verdi's operas
including "Nabucco," "I Lombardi," "Emani," "Attila," and "Luisa Miller."
Six-week seminar meets Tuesdays, 2:30 - 4 p.m., starting Feb. 21.
Course fee is $70.
Hinduism
(SOC P25-71) begins with a short presentation on the Hindu religion,
followed by a visit to a Hindu temple in Bartlett for a short service.
One-week class meets 9:15 a.m. - 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22. Course
fee is $43.
Big
Bands (MUS B48-71) uses rare audio and video clips from popular
music performers of the 1930s, including Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman,
Count Basie, and Artie Shaw. One-week class meets 10 - 11:30 a.m.,
Wednesday, Feb. 22. Course fee is $10.
Democracy:
What It Is and Where We Find It (PSE B02-71) examines the
characteristics of a democratic society. Three-week course meets 2
- 3:30 p.m., Thursdays, starting Feb. 23. Course fee is $100.
John
Cassavetes: He Did It His Way (HUM C01-71) looks at the work
of this American independent filmmaker. Movies to be discussed include
Faces (1968); The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976); and
Gloria (1980). Six-week course meets 9:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.,
Fridays, starting Feb. 24. Course fee is $100.
Oakton's
