Oakton Emeritus Program Offers Course Variety

Take a closer look at movies, current events, and famous Chicago parks by enrolling in classes offered this spring by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. All featured courses meet at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down (HUM E74-71) allows movie buffs to discuss current films. Six-week course meets Fridays, 1 - 3 p.m., starting Feb. 2. Course fee is $75.

The New Yorker (HUM E93-71) analyzes favorite selections from the sophisticated current events magazine, The New Yorker. A subscription to The New Yorker is required. Six-week course meets Mondays, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., starting Feb. 5. Course fee is $60.

Chicago, City of Gardens (ART D10-71) presents a virtual tour of beautiful garden parks, including Millennium Park, Lincoln Park, Grant Park, Jackson Park, and Washington Park. Two-week course meets Wednesdays, 10 - 11:30 a.m., starting Feb. 7. Course fee is $30.

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
