Oakton Emeritus Offers Courses in Art and Current Events

Preview an upcoming Art Institute of Chicago exhibition, or discuss current news events, in courses offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. Featured courses meet at Oakton's Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.

Winslow Homer, His Life and Times (ART H03-71) previews the Art Institute of Chicago exhibition, Watercolors of Winslow Homer, opening Feb. 16. A master painter, Homer (1836 - 1919) was noted for his brilliant watercolor schemes. Course meets 1 - 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13. Course fee is $20.

What's Brewing in the News (PSE B20-71) allows participants to engage in lively discussions about topics in the daily newspaper. Five-week course meets 1 - 2:30 p.m., Friday, starting Feb. 15. Course fee is $60.
