Fitness
and religion courses are offered this spring by the Emeritus Program
at Oakton Community College. All featured classes meet at Oakton's
Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Beginning
Hatha Yoga (PED S10-73) demonstrates how to practice stretching,
breathing, and relaxation techniques from an instructor certified
by the Himalayan Institute. Students are asked to bring a small pillow
and a mat or towel to class. Five-week course meets Wednesdays, 9:30
- 10:30 a.m., starting April 25. Course fee is $60.
Intermediate Hatha Yoga (PED S11-72) is for students
who wish to advance in their practice. Five-week course meets Wednesdays,
10:45 - 11:45 a.m., starting April 25. Course fee is $60.
Religion
and Society: What If…? (PSE B24-71) considers a hypothetical
society organized along Jewish, Christian, and Muslim values and practices.
Three speakers describe their vision of how America would look under
each religion. One-week session meets 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Wednesday,
April 25. Course fee is $40.
