Oakton Emeritus Examines Religion, Art, and Current Events

Explore religion, art and architecture, and current events by enrolling in courses offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College.

Buddhism 101 (PHL E59-91) provides insight into this ancient religion and philosophy. Topics include basic symbols, teachings, and relevance to everyday life. Six-week course meets Mondays, 10 - 11:30 a.m., starting June 18, at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $80.

Treasures of Art and Architecture in Spain (ART C31-91) examines famous Spanish paintings and ancient synagogues and cathedrals. Four-week course meets Wednesdays, 1 - 2:30 p.m., starting June 20, at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus. Course fee is $60.

What's Brewing in the News (PSE B20-92) allows participants to engage in lively discussions about current events. Five-week seminar meets Tuesdays, 10 - 11:15 a.m., starting June 26, at Covenant Village, 2625 Techny Road, Northbrook. Course fee is $60.
