Oakton Emeritus Program Offers Cultural Classes

Expand cultural horizons this summer by enrolling in classes offered through the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. These featured courses meet at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Send in the Clowns (HUM B26-91) explores "commedia dell'arte," a form of improvisational comedy that originated in the Italian Renaissance. Three-week seminar meets 2 - 4 p.m., Thursdays, starting July 7. Course fee is $40.

Romancing the Cello (MUS C18-91) examines three of the most famous concertos for cello and orchestra, composed by Hayden, Boccherini, and Schumann. Four-week course meets 10 - 11:30 a.m., Wednesdays, starting July 13. Course fee is $60.

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
