Oakton's Emeritus Program Eyes Current Events

Study current events and their impact on the world through courses offered through the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College.

Another World News (PSE B05-72) examines the objectivity of the U.S. media. The course also will study current events as reported by the international media. This eight-week class meets 10 - 11:15 a.m., starting Monday, April 12 at the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, 5006 Oakton St., Skokie. Course fee is $110.

Recent Supreme Court Decisions of Historic Importance (PSE B12-71) analyzes recent Supreme Court decisions from the 2003 and 2004 sessions, especially the factors that led to those verdicts. This three-week class meets 2:45 - 4 p.m., starting Thursday, April 15 at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $50.

Students age 60 and over who live within Oakton's district pay half-tuition for Emeritus noncredit classes. Those who have registered for an Oakton credit class within the last three years or an Alliance for Lifelong Learning noncredit class within the last five years may register using the Touch-Tone system by dialing 847-635-1616. Touch-Tone registration requires payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
