Italian Neorealism and Beyond: A New Cinema for a New World
(HUM B21-71) details the movement by Italian filmmakers to portray
the realities of life post-World War II. Films to be screened and
discussed include La Strada and The Bicycle Thief. Six-week
course meets 9:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., Fridays, starting Feb. 25. Course
fee is $100.
Tosca:
The Ultimate Diva (MUS S76-71) examines Puccini's famous opera
and its stage antecedent by French playwright Victorien Sardo, which
starred Sarah Bernhardt in the powerful diva role. Single-session
course meets 1 - 2:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25. Course fee is $20.
Monday
at the Movies (HUM S64-71) revisits domestic and international
films that may have originally been overlooked. Seven-week course
meets 2 - 4 p.m., Mondays, starting Feb. 28. Course fee is $80.

Go to the Yiddish Movies (MUS S77-71) discusses the influence
of Yiddish films on American cinema. Six-week course meets 10 - 11:30
a.m., Tuesdays, starting March 1. Course fee is $80.
