Oakton Lecture Series Offers Variety

Register now for Passages, a potpourri lecture series offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. The series runs 1 - 2:30 p.m. for seven Tuesdays, starting Sept. 4, at Oakton's campus in Skokie, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.

Passages begins Sept. 4 with "Love Letters," a story of friendship and ill-fated romance. The series continues Sept. 11 with "Response to Terror," a retrospective on the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. See if your favorite Hollywood team is among those included in "Dynamic Duos" on Sept. 18. Examine the enduring appeal of a Broadway stage and film classic during "West Side Story: Shakespeare, American Style" on Sept. 25.

Additional topics include: "The Treasure of St. Petersburg," (Oct. 2), "A Director's Look at 'The Scottish Play'," (Oct. 9) and "Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park" (Oct. 16).

The series fee is $28 for in-district residents age 60 and over, and $43 for out-of-district residents and those under age 60. Half-price tuition does not apply to the Passages series.
