through courses offered by the Oakton Community College Emeritus Program.
Documenting
Films: Viewing Documentaries in a New Way (HUM S63-71) provides
students with the opportunity to gain a better knowledge of the many
types of documentaries and the role of the filmmaker. Films to be
discussed include, "Go Two By Two," "The Warsaw Ghetto," and "King
Tut's Treasures." This 15-week course meets 1 - 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays,
starting Feb. 4 at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Course
fee is $180.
Mondays
& Movies (HUM S64-71) allows film buffs to enjoy screenings of
independent and international movies. Movie titles are not announced
in advance. The four-week class meets on Mondays, beginning Feb. 2
at the Skokie Theater, 7924 Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Two course times
are available, 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., or 7:15 - 9:45 p.m. Course fee
is $30.
The
One-Minute Mozart (MUS S69-71) introduces such famous classical
composers as Mozart, Bach, Brahms, and Beethoven. This four-week course
meets 10 - 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, starting Feb. 4 at the Des Plaines
campus. Course fee is $60.
Students
age 60 and over who reside within Oakton's district pay half-tuition
for Emeritus noncredit classes. Those who have registered for an Oakton
credit class within the last three years or an Alliance for Lifelong
Learning noncredit class within the last five years may register using
the Touch-Tone system by dialing 847-635-1616. Touch-Tone registration
requires payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
