offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College starting
in January.
Tai Chi (PED E30-71) teaches peaceful exercise techniques
and is best practiced in loose clothing and stocking feet, or comfortable
flat shoes. Six-week course meets 1:15 – 2:15 p.m., Monday,
starting Jan. 5, at Oakton’s Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln
Ave. Course fee is $72.
Advanced Tai Chi (PED E31-71) challenges students
to enhance their level of awareness and relaxation. Twelve-week course
meets 12 – 1 p.m., Monday, starting Jan. 5, at Oakton’s
Skokie campus. Course fee is $144.
The Heart of Islam (PSC C02-72) provides an understanding
of Islam by comparing and contrasting it with Judaism, Christianity,
Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, and Taoism. Eight-week course
meets 1 – 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, starting Jan. 6, at Classic Residence
by Hyatt, 2500 Indigo Lane, Glenview. Course fee is $110.
The Cozies – British Lady Mystery Writers (HUM
B51-72) examines the lives and works of four leading English whodunit
novelists: Dorothy Sayers, Agatha Christie, Patricia Wentworth, and
Ngaio Marsh. Four-week course meets 1 – 2:30 p.m., Tuesday,
starting Jan. 6, at Covenant Village, 2625 Techny Road, Northbrook.
Course fee is $60.
